About Prague Hotels

You'll be spoilt for choice by Prague hotels and attractions

Prague is one of the most-visited tourist destinations in Europe. The Czech Republic's capital receives millions of visitors every year that head to the city in search of beautiful views and architecture. That's something that you'll find in abundance if you visit the city, as well as hundreds of Prague hotels that provide an ideal base from which to explore the city. Prague is a beautiful destination to explore, providing your eyes with a real treat and giving you plenty of memorable photo opportunities.
Once you've decided that Prague is the place for you, your next task will be to find a hotel that is in an ideal location for visiting all of the city's attractions. The majority of hotels in Prague are situated in the heart of the city and thus most of the city's top sites are within walking distance. This will help you to expend less energy, which will assist you over the course of your holiday as sightseeing can be a tiring business, especially given the amount of attractions that you'll want to catch a glimpse of in Prague.
The Old Town is a great place to stay on a trip to the Czech capital and one Prague hotel that might take your fancy is the Hotel Melantrich Garni. This three star accommodation is popular with tourists due to its convenient location on the pedestrian-friendly Golden Tourist Way. This street is a constant hub of activity as it links the Old Town with Wenceslas Square and you're likely to be able to see some of the city's cultural monuments from your hotel room window.
Even though you're unlikely to spend much time in your hotel during a holiday to Prague, it's important that you choose ideal accommodation for your travelling needs so that the time you do spend there helps you to sit back and relax. One Prague activity that might not be so relaxing is taking a bungee jump off the Zvikovsk Podhradi Bridge. Undertaking this will give you a truly unique view of the Vltava River, but there are less terrifying ways to enjoy the scenic riverside surroundings.
The banks of the Vltava River are a peaceful place in the evening and are thus perfect to unwind and simply take in the beautiful surroundings. If you fancy getting a little closer to the river you can go on a cruise of the river during the day and if the sun is shining there really is no better way to make your way around Prague.
There is much to see in the city on dry land, with one of the main attractions for inquisitive tourists being the Astronomical Clock. The 15th century timepiece draws in the tourists and crowds gather every hour on the hour as wooden saints emerge from trap doors in the clock. Apparently there are some occult mysteries that lie within the complex codes on the clock, which are part of folklore and Czech tradition.
Another aspect of Czech culture that is central to the country's history and is becoming more prominent now is photography. This section of art has enjoyed something of a revival in the Czech Republic in recent years and John Sudek and other Czech photographers are celebrated now more than ever. The Prague House of Photography is a gallery well worth visiting if you're a culture vulture who loves art and looking for something different to the classic exhibitions.
Its not just photography that is becoming more popular in Prague as the city is also the home of the Czech contemporary art movement. The recently opened DOX art centre houses some alternative art and represents a change from traditional work. If classic paintings are more of your thing then you'd be better served heading to The Prague National Gallery in the city.
No holiday is complete without a spot of shopping and this is an area where Prague excels. Czech glass is one of the most popular tourist purchases and is many people's souvenir of choice to take back home with them. If you have a few hours to spare it's worth searching out some handcrafted tapestries that are completely original and will be a great memory to take from the Czech capital.
There's no reason to limit your shopping in Prague to just buying souvenirs either, as during your holiday the local markets are a great place to taste some delicious food. Penny market is one place where you can barter with the local stall owners and the fact that your purchases will be hit-and-miss and you'll be unsure as to whether you'll love what you're buying only adds to the experience.
When it comes to the evening there is a wide choice of entertainment to enjoy. If you're just after a tasty meal then there are many great restaurants that you can search out and it's more than likely that you'll find a real gem. There various pubs and bars scattered across Prague, where the drink flows and you can taste the best that the Czech Republic has to offer in terms of one of the country's loves, beer.
The theatres across the city host a number of different shows, but it's the puppet performances that will provide you with something different from the norm. The puppetry will please adults and children alike and you can even purchase a puppet to take home with you as a fantastic memory. The Divadlo Minor hosts some lively shows, but for a truly unique experience you can visit Formans' Mystery Boat Theatre and see a puppet show performed on the water.
Prague is home to a number of attractions that will attract the majority of tourists, but there are also some lesser known activities, such as the puppet shows, that will really bring a smile to your face. Maybe you're feeling lucky on holiday and fancy a trip to Savarin Casino, where if fortune is on your side you'll have some extra money to spend on dining out in style in a top restaurant.
